Originally from Buffalo, New York, Edward "Jake" Jaquays graduated from the State University of New York in 1971. After relocating to Illinois, Mr. Jaquays graduated from the John Marshall Law School, located in Chicago, with honors in 1975, and was admitted to practice law in Illinois and the Northern District of Illinois that same year. In 1982, he was admitted to practice law in the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Jaquays’ long years of practice has come with an extensive and varied knowledge of all areas of litigation including appellate, criminal, civil, and family law. Along with his private practice, he also has been a Will County Public Defender on a part-time basis for over 30 years. With the Public Defender’s Office, Mr. Jaquays was a felony supervisor as well as being involved in over 20 death penalty cases in Will County. He has also been an attorney for the Will County Merit Commission for over 20 years. His active participation in not only his practice, but also the needs of the Will County area has shown his dedication to the local community.

Throughout his years of practice, Mr. Jaquays was a former member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Capital Trial Bar Screening Committee, and the former Chairman of the Will County Family Law and Criminal Law Committees.  He was also a former traffic prosecutor for Bolingbrook.
